Digital Citizenship in the Lesson Plans
A deep knowledge of digital citizenship helped me write a series of lessons that were implemented into my classroom. This knowledge was used to activate prior knowledge in mini lessons (introductions) and in the core of my lesson (body).
Each of these sections is discussed in order to show how the lessons used digital citizenship recognition.

Prior Knowledge Activation
Each of my lessons incorporated an introduction that reviewed technology rules and procedures. These introductions are completely necessary in order to help students use technology in effective manners. These mini lessons helped students prepare themselves to be digital citizens. |
Body of Lesson
Each of my lessons incorporated activities, demonstrations, whole group and small group instruction. Throughout each of these categories there was an implementation of digital citizenship through technology. |
A deeper look into the aspects of digital citizenship. This deep understanding includes conditions, procedures of healthy and safe practices and a thoughtful implication into an Elementary classroom.
What is DIGITAL CITIZENSHIP?
Digital Citizenship encompasses the aspects of building, creating and maintaining safe environments. These aspects of a safe environment include an understanding of personal, and community safety in regards to technology and the creative use of it. When we can personally and communally use technology in a safe way, we are able to produce creative and informational growth that will shape our world in a positive and effective manner.
Personal Citizenship
As individuals, we must take ownership and responsibility for our own use of technology. We must understand and implement safety in each and every internet based search, posting and sharing of information. Individuals must understand that they are responsible for their own use of technology in order to produce creative and inventive digital experiences.
Community Citizenship
As an individual, we must understand that we are part of a digital community. This community includes many other individuals who each must assume responsibility for their actions in regards to technology and the use of it. As a whole, we must work together in safe manners to produce whole group creative and inventive digital experiences.
